The first edition of Brasilia Photo Show offered winners a party to launch the book 2015/2016, as well as exhibitions and awards.
The idea instigated not only amateur photographers from Brazil and the entire world, but also professionals who embraced the goal of being carried away by emotion. The numbers impressed. In three months of registrations (from April 21 to July 21, 2015), more than 5,000 photos were sent to the e-mail of the Festival. 2,000 images were validated, after the careful curation of Vergara himself, to be posted on Facebook, attracting views, likes, comments and more than 5.2 million views audited by the social network. “We have received images of people who have never picked up a professional device and have portrayed, with their smartphones, moments with the exuberance and the beauty of an artwork, to the accurate photos of professionals who publish their work at National Geographic,” explains Vergara.
On December 6, the first book was officially launched at the Pier 21 Cinemark in Brasilia. Hundreds of Festival participants who do not live in the Federal Capital participated in the party. The winning photos were projected in one of the movie theaters of the complex. “It was a day of celebration with the presence of dozens of authors from all over Brazil and delivery of the certificates to the winners.”
